A long standing tradition of some Muukan cultures is the seasonal hunt of massive, bioluminescent, subterranean creatures called Itaurs. Due to the rotational speed of the Muukan homeworld around its celestial body, the long, dark seasons of Muuktak lead the Itaurs to make their destructive emergence. During their time on the surface, Itaurs cause havoc for rural Muukans in their quest for food and mates. Once a hunt performed by Muukan warriors as part of religious ceremonies, it is now a widely watched gladiatorial sport performed by Muukan-piloted machinery, with pilots choosing their own weapons and custom paint jobs.
Based on an original series of science-fiction artworks called Void Wardens. This is a sci-fi world I'll revisit every couple of years in my free time, and I want to start putting more time towards fully-realizing this universe I've been kicking around in notes, sketchbooks, and my head since 2010.
